Failed States
On Monday June 19th, 2006 I performed in the second public reading of Failed States - a new darkly comic musical by Andrew Taylor & Desmond O'Connor of 1215 Productions. It took place at the National Liberal Club in London.
It's exciting to be involved in the development of new work and there is talk of us doing another reading at the Royal Court Theatre this August, followed by a fully staged 2 week run at the Barons Court Theatre (Aug. 28 - Sept. 10 2006).
Synopsis:
Joseph, an ex-patriot American businessman, returns home to London where he is warmly welcomed by his pregnant fiancée. The couple plan for their happy family life together in England. But what is heralded by the arrival of the security services? What questions can they have for Joseph? And what implications do their suspicions have for Joseph and the people around him?
From the 1215 website: "The play explores the lengths to which a democratic nation should go in its attempts to combat international terrorism." To find out more, visit www.1215productions.co.uk.
